About the artist:
Susan was born in Olympia, WA and raised in Seattle. From a very early age, she had a great affinity for animals. She was raised with cats and learned about birds from her grandmother, and still jeeps a 'life list' of birds.
During much of the 1980s and early 90s, Susan considered herself a Wildlife Artis. In 1989 she met her present husband at an Art Show. His aunt and uncle ran a trade goods store on a reservation for the Blackfeet people. He began teaching Susan about their life and ways. Eventually she realized that she could incorporate their life and ways since then. Eventually she had realized that she could incorporate images of powwow dancers with her wildlife to tell their stories and legends.
