About the artist: A winter visit to Santa Fe in 1974 grabbed the imagination of artist E. Peebler and never disappeared. The wonder of the high altitude lighting, the ceremonies of First Americans, the play of shadow on form - all become integral to her her desire to lay paint on canvas.In January 2002 an opportunity to begin painting. Having been exposed to and inspired by major contemporary artists in Santa Fe, Ellen proceed to experiment with acrylics. After a few months of paintings various subjects, she found her visions coming alive in masks and attitude and symbology - all laid on canvas to evoke primitive spiritual wonder at the interaction of manm and his universe.
