ARTIST’S BIO

Douglas Fountain is a proud descendant of Chief Sitting Bull of the Sioux. Combining this legacy with his artist talent, he has been able to create a unique art style that reflects his proud heritage. Using natural materials such as gourds, deer hide, beadwork, buffalo tallow and earth-based pigments, he creates pieces based upon the legends and traditions of his people and their respect for the supreme forces of the Great Creator. Trained as an architectural engineer and later as a professional photographer. Doug believes that he was called to create works of art that would bring the Native American traditions to national awareness.
