ARTIST’S BIO

Ruben has a long history in the art world, beginning with his first award in grade school in California. Continuing to develop his talent through High School and the military, he then attended San Francisco School of Fine Art and the Art Center College of Design in LA. This led to a successful career in Commercial Art for thirty years in Chicago. But, there was a longing interest and quest for the southwest. Retiring from the business and city world, Ruben and his wife moved to southern Arizona. The “Greenhorn from Chicago” signed-on as a working ranch-hand near the Mexican border. Here he delved into ranch life and branded, bronco-bucked and “broke” his first Mustang as the age of 55. This time gave him the opportunity to research true western, cowboy life for his paintings. Today, Ruben continues to experience the cowboy life with oil, brush and canvas.
